Back Alley Big Band

Definitely not Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, or Benny Goodman, The Back Alley Big Band plays exciting contemporary big band jazz. With some of the finest jazz musicians in the Maritimes in the ranks, this band will knock your socks off. The repertoire for the band ranges from the great swing charts of Sammy Nestico to the innovative and imaginative funk and Latin music of Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat band from Los Angeles to original compositions written and arranged by band member Chris Mitchell. Often featured with the band is Cuban singing sensation Augusto Enriquez whose infectious Latin material adds extra pizazz to this exciting jazz ensemble.

Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus

Founded in 2019, the Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus began with a simple but powerful idea: to create a space where lower-voiced 2SLGBTQIA+ singers could make music, build community, and be visible.

From the beginning, HGMC was about more than performance. It was created to present high-quality, exciting music while building a safe and supportive social environment, and serving as ambassadors for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Halifax and across Nova Scotia.
